Amber South is the founder of the program and currently the only director.  She has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of West Georgia, and will soon have a Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University.  She is also a homeschooling mom to a 17 year old son who was adopted from Russia during the summer of 2008, and a future-homeschooler born in 2009.

She has been teaching piano lessons in the West Georgia and East Alabama area, mostly to homeschoolers, since 2003.  It was the parents of several piano students who mentioned the need for a homeschool band program in the area, and after much prayer, JUHSB was born.
